PTE Academic:

PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic is a widely recognized English proficiency test accepted by numerous universities and colleges across the globe. Students who wish to study in English-speaking countries take PTE Academic to demonstrate their English language skills. It is accepted by institutions in Australia, the USA, the UK, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, France, Ireland and more.

PTE Academic is a computer-based test, lasting approximately 3 hours. One of its key advantages is the rapid result processing, with scores typically available within 48 hours. The test is scored by the computer, and human assessors, ensuring consistency and objectivity. Additionally, PTE Academic scores are also accepted by immigration departments for Permanent Residency (PR) and citizenship applications.

There are three modules in the PTE Academic: Speaking and Writing (combined), Reading, and Listening. 

Integrated Scoring System of PTE Academic:

The PTE Academic scoring system is unique and differs from other tests like IELTS. It employs an integrated scoring system, where questions in one module can also contribute to scores in another module. For example, the Read Aloud question in the Speaking section requires test takers to read and speak a paragraph, contributing scores to both the Speaking and Reading sections.

This integrated approach ensures a comprehensive evaluation of language proficiency, as several question types in PTE Academic contribute to two modules simultaneously. This scoring system provides a more holistic assessment of the candidate’s English language skills.

The total mark for each section is 90, and an overall score is calculated at the end. In addition to the four modules, the PTE Academic also tests a student’s enabling skills such as grammar, vocabulary, spelling, oral fluency, pronunciation, and written discourse. 

The Academic validation of the PTE-Academic is two years.
